Under the clinical supervision of Erika Vargas, LMHC
Carly (she/her) comes to Mantra Mental Health Counseling with experience providing trauma-informed care to adolescents, college students, and adults. Carly’s primary areas of focus are eating disorders/disordered eating, body image, anxiety, and depression. Carly is passionate about providing a safe, comforting, and empowering space for clients as they navigate healing and self discovery. As a clinician and person, Carly is an advocate in the understanding and implementation of the mind-body connection, using mindfulness-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (MB-CBT) with her clients.
Carly completed her clinical mental health counseling master’s practicum at a residential treatment center working directly with both adolescents and adults struggling with eating disorders. In addition to her practicum, Carly has worked in the residential setting as a support counselor, where she provided meal coaching, clinical support, psychoeducation, and skills implementation via 1:1 support, as well as group leadership. Carly has also supported individuals struggling with eating disorders through volunteering for an eating disorder hotline.
Following her practicum, Carly completed her clinical internship working in an outpatient college counseling center, where she supported college students navigating adjustment, academic and interpersonal stress, anxiety, body image and disordered eating concerns, and depression.
Carly uses a relational approach resulting in strong therapeutic relationships with her clients. When identifying goals, Carly values meeting clients where they are at, and provides support using an acceptance-based lens, including tenets of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Carly also implements tenets of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and coping and grounding skills from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
Carly treats individuals ages 16+, and provides in-person care at our Newton Centre office, as well as via telehealth.
Outside of the office, Carly can be found baking, reading, going to the movies, spending time outside connecting with nature (a coping skill for which she heavily advocates!), doing yoga, and searching through the aisles of her favorite thrift shops.
