Mara Siegman, MA

Under the clinical supervision of Erika Vargas, LMHC

*Mara is accepting new clients in our Newton office and via telehealth.

Mara (she/her) comes to Mantra Mental Health Counseling with expertise in the treatment of eating disorders, anxiety, and trauma. Having completed her clinical internship at a residential treatment center for adolescents with eating disorders, Mara uses tenets of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to provide support, challenge unhelpful thinking patterns, and facilitate behavioral change. Mara uses an emotionally-focused therapy (EFT) approach to help her clients increase awareness of their emotions in order to better understand and face them rather than suppress them. Mara also brings experience from her work in community-based mental health care, as well as having volunteered at a college campus sexual assault crisis center.

Mara is passionate about providing weight-inclusive care for all of her clients. Mara’s clients describe her as a warm presence in the room, validating of their feelings and experiences, and reflective in a way that leads to change.

Mara treats adolescents (ages 14+) and adults. She is currently accepting new clients via telehealth services or in our Newton Centre office.

Outside of work, Mara enjoys spending time with her family (including her pup!), and yoga.
